Local move within Arizona

Terrible company.

These people have NO concept of customer care. They are totally unprofessional and inconsiderate. I used them in a move from Chicago to AZ. I had one unit of furniture, a bedroom set. no mattress or box spring, just the bedroom furniture because it was the one thing on the move that I wanted. After they had delivered all of the boxes and a motorcycle, within a day I was going to assemble everything. I found out that they had NOT delivered the wooden side rails and footboard for my set. I immediately contacted them and they casually said I had to wait till the driver emptied his truck. Next was that they had to look in the warehouse. These were not small pieces but without them I could not put the bed together. I eventually had to drill holes in the one thing that I wanted, to try and accomodate standard rails. It ruined the bed. I have since had to buy a bed to try and match the rest of the set. That was five hundred. This has already been too long so I won't go into the rest. I ended up, after months of aggravation dealing with this phoney outfit, signed and settled, because of the "between the lines" wording in the contract that states, basically, if you things are lost or broke..tuff. The amount was seventy dollars. I have had to contact three different companies, apparently associated with this bogus outfit and have yet, after eight months, received any compensation whatsoever. Avoid this company at all cost.

Long-distance move from Missouri to Florida

Over charge under deliver.

I had a quote for 1100 cu ft. When the driver came he said no you have 3000 cu ft. That is a difference in approx. $5000. When a different company came and delivered the same items here in Florida they showed me truck and I took pictres. My stuff was approx. 900 cu ft. I guess they just wNted to rip me off. When I called the salesman after there company picked it up at my house to get it worked out.. he said " I will talk to my supervisor and get back to you". Guess what they never called me back they just sent me a form to fill out from there company for a formal complaint. I have made no strides with anyone from the company. I consider them nothing but frauds and thieves. I even had some of my boxes opened and retapped with items missing.

Long-distance move from Denver, CO to Miami, FL

Thank you for all your help Jacob!

My first time moving and my experience with this company was amazing! My sales rep did everything he promised and more! I was nervous when deciding a mover because I was over whelmed with calls but he made it easy from the moment we started talking. I am moving again at the end of the year and without a doubt using this company again! Thank you for everything Jacob!

Long-distance move from Minneapolis, MN to Tempe, AZ

Interstate Move.

I would never recommend Franklin Van Lines to anyone. They did the classic low ball initial bid and pulled the classic bait and switch. I paid a rediculous fee of $1200 to "Guarentee Delivery" at a certain date which they verbally said was fine. I paid them to get the move done within 8 days. They did not show up til 12 days later and I was out of the country so they placed the stuff in a local storage site and I then had to pay a local company to transfer it home after I returned. I personally moved 70 boxes myself and it still cost me $410 for the local movers. They are a deceitful company. They obviously low balled the bid which was quadrupled even though I added more boxes them original estimate estimate but should not have quadrupled. I would never have used them if I knew the guaranteed delivery date was totally fictitious. They apologized and refunded the guarentee fee but that was hughly inconvienient. The word guarantee was totally a bait and switch. They were no weather issues that prevented the transfer but was a obvious lie just to get my business. Also the online company that recommended them them was also at fault because later I saw all the bad reviews.

Long-distance move from Derby, KS to Gilbert, AZ

Don't Use Them!!

Communication is terrible. Estimating is totally bait and switch. Truck came a day late, packers came 21/2 hours late after they called to confirm. Even the truck driver said we were totally ripped off. For 1,000 miles it should have cost $7,000. We paid over $10,000. Lowest bid, then upped the bid twice. Never use someone who doesn't come to your house to bid the move. Packers were hard workers, just very late. Truck driver and helper were fine, just 24 hours late. And no communication at the other end.

Franklin Van Lines - terrible experience.

Terrible experience. They low balled the quote, & then the final cost was almost 3 times the estimate. This number isn't given to you until AFTER all of your things are packed into the truck. They packed & unpacked my things twice. Very low tech, no bar code scans on the stickers, all handwritten. The whole experience felt a scam, dirty & uncomfortable. They hire local workers to work at the direction of an "leader". They packed so quickly that I had no say in what happened to my belongings. Some things were broken. They tried to deliver 5 days BEFORE my requested delivery date - I didn't own the house yet & so they unloaded my things into storage & went on with other moves. It took multiple calls to get them to load up my things & deliver them. The biggest problem is the cost. They suck you in by making you think you are going to get a professional move for a cheaper cost. Don't believe them! They WILL charge you premium price. I am a VERY unhappy customer. Once you've hired them & they have your things, then you have no recourse. BUYER BEWARE!!

Long-distance move from Loveland, CO to Mesa, AZ

Do Not Use Franklin Van Lines - Aurora, co.

This company is very DISHONEST!! Luckily we didn't let them load our belongings without first going over our quote again with the driver of the moving truck on moving day. The quote on the day of our move was twice as much as our original quote. The owner of the company (Jennifer) spoke to my husband at least 3 weeks before our move and negotiated a rate of $3040. She even gave my husband her cell phone number in case he had any other reservations about using her company. She said they were willing to give us a deal and wanted our experience to be a positive one so we could give them a good review. On day of the move and after hearing the new price my husband tried to call Jennifer but she never answered her phone. To this day, we still have not heard back from the company. We tried to dispute the charge for the deposit through our credit card company but because the agreement we signed says you have to cancel within 7 days of your move to get a refund, we weren't able to get our $1300. deposit back. Please do not let the people at this company mislead you. They will tell you whatever they need to in order to make a sale.

Long-distance move from Chicago, IL to Tampa, FL

Avoid this moving company.

My move was difficult because I had a few different destinations and dates where my belongings were. The coordination was troublesome to say the very least. It felt like my teeth were being pulled out doing business with this company. Very confusing!
In addition, the driver who moved my belongings down the my new home was extremely rude and criminal. I was working as teacher and after a rough day, I certainly did not want to be swore at. I asked the driver for a courtesy call a half a hour before he arrived. He started swearing at me and I lost my cool. I started to swear back at him. I made a horrible decision because he charged me an extra thousand dollars because he said he could not get the semi in my complex and many of my belongings were not delivered. He took another week to get me my things without any help from the company. I thought my belongings were at the bottom of a lake. Stay away from this company.

Long-distance move from Minnesota to North Carolina

Franklin Van Lines moving company.

Please take my word for it and avoid using their service. Moving is difficult enough and they added to my stress double fold! The sales rep was on top of things before the move. She answered questions and emails within half hour which impressed me and we went with them. What a mistake!
I spoke with the quality control person and he assured me that they will load us in 1 day even if he had to put more guys on. The day of move, they cidnt come till 11:30am. First thing he did was look around and say it would cost extra for multiple items. Normal china cabinet, computer armoire he deemed oversized and increased the cost by 2,000$.
Then he went on to increase the final amount to 3,500$.
What could we do! We had to pay up since the sales rep who was super nice before didn’t answer any of my calls and sent email that she doesn’t have access to our files anymore!
Now the movers were inexperienced.
Day 1, coming in late, left early. They didn’t cover the floors with blankets as previous ones have done. On asking they put out cardboard boxes. They broke the railing! We were moving out of town and got so stressful that on Day 2 they didn’t finish till 8 pm. Luckily my landlord was nice and had her cleaning crew do the cleanup and took it out of our deposit.
On delivery, they sent 2 guys only. One was barely 18.
They left a lot of things in the garage. Didn’t set up things and were working till 8:30. They were so tired! How could we ask them to stay longer?
Now to damage and lost items!
Boxes marked fragile were crushed, wood broken on 2 beds and armoire. Our slate tables are broken.
I won’t mention the broken dishes, glasses, scratches and dents! They lost glass tops of our tables that they themselves packed!!
Claims are a joke. Shouldn’t have bothered since they are only paying 60$ And it took so long to do the claim process. This has been a nightmare! Do stay away!

Long-distance move from Colorado to Minnesota

Very bad experience with Franklin Van Lines.

The first quote was for $4982.95 and I had to submit a deposit of 411836.32. Two weeks later and the night before the loading was scheduled they called me and raised the quote to $11176.52 and refused to refund my initial deposit when I said I did not wan their service and would use a different company. I was told that I would have to go to Florida to fight this in Court. I felt cornered since we had to move and did not have time to fight with them. I finally agreed to the move and they stored my property for about 7 months. When the delivery was made the movers refused to remove shoes in our newly built home and made a mess of the floors and damaged walls and refused to pay for any damage. The driver left a large pile of garbage in the garage and when they assembled the furniture they left out pieces and did not assemble everything, said it was my responsibility and they left. I was not allowed to check for missing items but noted on the paperwork that several items were missing and after checking it was close to 20%. I made a claim and they offered me $64.00. I am still in the process of trying to get reimbursed for our loss but the Franklin Van Lines assumes no responsibility for their actions.
